The Atrium at Navesink Harbor Offers Residents Riverfront Views and a Safe Place to Call Home

While New Jersey slowly begins opening up following the statewide shutdown in March — allowing limited numbers of diners into restaurants and fitness enthusiasts into gyms — for those at greatest risk of contracting the virus, staying close to home remains the safest option.

But for seniors that can be isolating and leaves older people without access to many essentials, with the additional burden of having to maintain a home during a pandemic.

One of the many advantages of living in a continuing care retirement community is the closed campus arrangement, where residents’ lives can continue as usual while staff ensure they remain safe and informed. At The Atrium at Navesink Harbor, part of the Springpoint Senior Living family of CCRC or Life Plan communities perched along the Navesink River in Red Bank, residents enjoy the many services and amenities of a maintenance-free and active adult lifestyle.

Finding a Home During Difficult Times

The only full-service, waterfront continuing care retirement community in New Jersey, The Atrium is a full-service continuing care retirement community that offers a variety of senior living options to enhance your independence and provide peace of mind for your future care needs. With sweeping river panoramas, an upbeat downtown setting, outstanding services and superior amenities, The Atrium includes 140 luxury, independent-living apartments, a 43-bed skilled nursing center and innovative rehabilitative care with Genesis Rehab Services.

During these challenging times, the staff and residents have pulled together to look out and care for each other. Whether they are checking in on neighbors with phone calls or spreading positivity throughout the community by placing rocks with hand painted designs and inspirational words in the garden areas, the staff and residents have come together as a family to ensure each other’s safety.

To keep residents engaged and active, the LivWell team offers daily video classes with the community’s fitness coordinator and residents are able to view the classes through the in-house TV channel and classes change weekly. They also can participate in virtual Tai-Chi with an instructor and a chaplain providing in-home prayer guides and hymns to interested community members. While eating in the main dining room is currently on hold, hot and delicious, chef-prepared meals are delivered to each resident’s front door.

“It’s like one big family in this place,” said resident Katherine Guyer. “I don’t know what Springpoint does when they pick people, but The Atrium staff is just incredible. They work so hard to serve us every day.”

As part of the Springpoint network of communities, all responses to the challenges posed by COVID-19 at The Atrium have been guided by a dedicated health care team, with combined hundreds of years of medical expertise, in compliance with federal, state and local health officials. Some measures imposed include:

  • All independent living visitors must fill out contact tracing forms and undergo a temperature check.
  • Employees and assisted living residents are tested weekly and masks are required throughout the facilities at all times.
  • Staff members use advanced cleaning methods throughout the community to mitigate risk of contamination.
  • All employees are required to quarantine and test negative before returning to work following illness.
  • The Atrium at Navesink Harbor staff is fully stocked with a PPE supply to address future needs.

You’ll Never Be Bored at The Atrium at Navesink Harbor

Although restrictions are still in place due to safety concerns, residents can still take advantage of The Atrium’s facilities, classes and activities. On a daily, weekly and monthly basis, residents have access to countless activities and programs that will invigorate your mind, body and soul through the comprehensive wellness program, LivWell. On any given day, you can curl up in the library to enjoy an attention-grabbing book, surround yourself with beautiful artwork in the gallery or stroll through picturesque River Garden, featuring a charming gazebo, comfortable seating and a rainbow of color season-round.

When you’re ready to get off campus, take a relaxing river cruise with champagne and chocolates on The Atrium’s private pontoon boat, explore the shops in downtown Red Bank, enjoy live musical entertainment or spend an afternoon soaking up the sun along the waterfront.

Prior to the pandemic, residents enjoyed living their best lives with the peace of mind that should their needs change, they would be covered. But these challenging times call for heightened security for seniors and the staff at The Atrium at Navesink Harbor provides a safe and healthy environment with care and compassion.

“They are an amazing group of wonderful people,” said Elaine Voli Restiano, whose mother is a resident. “I am so thankful for everything they have done and are doing to help us all through this pandemic and keep our loved ones safe and cared for.”
